Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification

PEFC is a global organization for the assessment of national forest certification program built upon sustainable forest management principles through a series of ongoing mechanisms. PEFC is supported by 149 governments in the world and covering 85 percent of the world’s forest area. The PEFC certification provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products, in that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.
Just like with the FSC, the Program of Endorsement for Forest Certification (PEFC) promotes forest management based on sustainable development principles. As well, PEFC accreditation ensures that a control process is in place.
